Floating in a sea of stars, the red ‘coral’ is a giant star-forming nebula designated NGC 2014. Along with its blue companion, NGC 2020, it resides in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), which is a small satellite galaxy of our own Milky Way, about 160,000 light years away.
